Khutbah: Jumaat Prayer

Proud to be a Muslim

All Praise is due to Allah, We praise Him and we seek help from Him. We ask forgiveness from Him. We repent to Him; and we seek refuge in Him from our own evils and our own bad deeds.
Anyone who is guided by Allah, he is indeed guided; and anyone who has been left astray, will find no one to guide him.
I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, the Only One without any partner; and I bear witness that Muhammad, SAW, is His servant, and His messenger.

My Dear Brothers in Islam,

First of all we should be grateful because we are chosen by Allah SWT to be a Muslim. There are no other greatest gifts of Allah brought to us and the entire world, it is Islam.

Allah the Almighty says in Sura al-Maidah verse 3:

This day have I perfected religion for you, complete my favour upon you and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. Indeed, it is only Islam accepted by Allah SWT. Therefore, inevitably we should be grateful to Allah SWT and should give very much thanks to our prophet Muhammad SAW who has strived and struggled very much in bringing Islam to all of us.

Islam is derived from the Arabic root "Salama": peace, purity, submission and obedience. In the religious sense, Islam means submission to the will of God and obedience to His law. Everything and every phenomenon in the world other than man is administered totally by God-made laws, ie. they are obedient to God and submissive to his laws, they are in the State of Islam. Man possesses the qualities of intelligence and choice, thus he is invited to submit to the good will of God and obey His law, ie, become a Muslim. Submission to the good will of God, together with obedience to His beneficial Law, ie, becoming a Muslim, is the best safeguard for man's peace and harmony.

Allah the Almighty says in Sura Ali Imran verse 83:

Do they seek for other than religion of Allah? While of creatures in the heaven and on earth have willing and unwilling , bowed to his will (accepted Islam), and to him shall they all be brought back.
Islam dates back to the age of Adam and its message has been conveyed to man by God's prophets and messengers, including Abrahim, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad. In the other word the is no such word ‘adyan al-samawiyah’ and ‘religions of the heaven’, because the only religion revealed by Allah SWT to all his messengers is Islam.

Allah the Almighty says in Sura al-Baqarah verses 131-133:

Behold, his Lord said to him (Abraham), “Bow (thy will to me)”. He said, “I bow (my will) to the Lord and Cherisher of the universe. And this was a legacy that Abraham left to his sons and so did Jacob, “O my sons, Allah has chosen the faith for you, then die not except in the state of submission to Allah (muslim). Were ye witnesses when death appeared before Jacob, behold he said to his sons, “What will ye worship after me?” They said, “We will worship thy God, the God of thy fathers, of Abraham, Isma’il and Isaac, the one (true) God and to him we bow (in Islam).

Islam's message has been restored and enforced in the last stage of the religious evolution by God's last prophet and messenger, Muhammad.

My Dear Brothers in Islam,

Finally I would like to exclaim all of you and myself to be proud as a Muslim and let us committed to practice Islam at least the five pillars of Islam. The prophet Muhammad SAW said,

Islam is built of five pillars, testifying there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger, establishing prayer, paying Zakat, observing the fast of Ramadhan and perfoming Pilgrimage if you ere solvent enough. (Muslim)
